Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport built 26 road projects with lengths totalling 524 kilometres at a combined cost of EGP 2.2 billion during 2019.
These projects include the development and establishment of Borg El-Arab road “El-Kafouri-Sidi Kerir” at a length of 18.5 km and a cost of EGP 329.4 million, according to data released by the cabinet’s media centre on Tuesday.
Ras Gharib-El-Sheikh Fadl road (Phase I) was also developed at length of 60 km and a cost of EGP 230.5 million.
In addition, the transport ministry constructed seven bridge and axis projects at a total cost of EGP 2.4 billion last year.
The projects include Adly Mansour axis at a cost of EGP 1.1 billion, four bridges along Benha-Masoura highway at a cost of EGP 856 million, and two bridges along Cairo-Suez road at a cost of EGP 400 million.
It is noteworthy that Egypt jumped 17 places to rank the 28th in the road quality index in 2019, compared to the 45th in 2018.
